I’m concerned about the number of people on this thread taking the baldness analogy literally.

Balding is not an agony if you accept it as a part of a normal aging process. Balding is only an agony if you spend years of your life fighting the inevitable every step of the way because your sense of identity is tied up in how much hair you have. Think Patrick Stewart vs. William Shatner.

Decades ago one of my bald uncles grew out his hair ridiculously long on one side to do the combover thing. He was furious when a barber “accidentally” cut it off one day but the rest of the family breathed a sigh of relief that the sad charade was finally over.

Every man should embrace his inner baldness and besides it's much easier getting dried after a shower.
