I was looking for something in my dresser the other day and came across this early 70s Seiko automatic. I can’t remember if i got it from my mom or stepdad but it was sometime around 1988-93 when I was in the Navy. I never wore it back then because it wasn’t running and also wasn’t really my style.

few months before they’ll have time to get me an estimate on what it’ll cost to get it running again. It’ll almost certainly be more than the watch is worth. But I unless it’s just a ridiculous sum, I’ll probably do it. Heirlooms aren’t really a thing my family does and this might be a nice start.

The only other watch I currently own is my Apple Watch it’s fine, but it’s a little incongruous on the rare occasions I dress in something nicer than my daily jeans/shorts and a tee shirt. Anyway, looks like I’m gonna fuck around and become a watch guy.

But something about it is really speaking to me today. The crystal looks rougher in person than it does in the pic, and it’s gonna need at least two additional links to fit around my wrist (did people have smaller wrists in the seventies?). I took it to a shop here in town and it’s going to be a…

We had our drain pipes replaced under the house a few weeks back. Evidently it still had the OG 1960s cast iron ones, one of which had cracked. After they were done, one of the plumbers mentioned there was some sewage underneath that needed to be cleaned up, and he referred me to a friend of his…

Well the guy just left after looking at the crawlspace and friends, I was not prepared for him to say, nonchalantly “You’re looking at ten grand minimum. A few grand more of you want us to replace the top 2-3 inches of soil.” 😕 My dude, it’s a residential crawlspace, not a Superfund site.

This is my first time participating in one of these and I’m SO excited!

My initial thoughts are that You Can See Everything is really, really good, and that it’s very much not the movie the trailer makes it out to be. I need to see it again for sure, because I’m confidant it’ll be even better after multiple watches.

Settling in for You Can See Eveything. How’s about I live-skeet the trailers? First up, Wildwood, from “the hands that made Coraline.” One can assume those hands don’t include Neil Gaiman’s.

I’m a little ashamed to admit I think I had an interaction with a bot account th’smorning. I’ve since blocked it but goddamn it feels bad to have been suckered into thinking it was a real person for a few minutes.

if i take a walk in my little walkable neighborhood to buy fresh flowers and crunchy nectarines and my serenity is punctured by the sound of your tesla flipping in the air, i will blow up your car with a rocket launcher

Pretty cool, admittedly. But it’s only flying in a “controlled falling” kinda way. Also, aren’t roadsters convertibles by definition?

I love this idea so much. Elon should definitely be the guy flying it for the demo flight(s).
