You're absolutely right! I saw it happen here in Greece and in the US, the 2016 post-election polls showed that it was not the poorest that voted for Trump but the ones who most feared falling into poverty.

Vinger op de zere plek! Idem voor richting van de te volgen koers! In alle protesten klinkt ook door de roep om zeggenschap over je bestaan. Het is aan hervormings-gezind links om dat in systeem-veranderende eisen om te zetten. In begrijpelijke taal.

I think the lefts message is landing but its being drowned out by the sheer weight of media manipulation paid for by billionaires and their flunkies who are dedicated to the right wing fear pipeline. Left unity has always been complex because we really care.

Is decline actually inevitable if we keep the same system of competing, capitalistic nation states? Maybe "we" are currently just not winning, and neither left nor right parties can change that.
