is the electric blanket market known for cheap tat? think this one was bought a couple of years ago but never even opened until this month, doesn't seem to heat more than a small part of the blanket.

I've had 2 electric blankets in the us , the last one was wirecutter recommended and didn't have a good experience. I suspect because of how it gets bent and folded the heating element is easy to mess up. I just use them now to warm the bed up on particularly cold nights

I prefer the corn/bean bags you heat up in the microwave. One of those under a regular blanket dies the trick for me.
