did some bitwise math today like a big boy. had to draw myself a table to keep track of what i wanted.

Ah yes the old doubledecrement, aka --²

Before = 1 + 4 = 5 After = 1 + 2 = 3 Whatever your function did, the overall effect was to subtract 2 (ie -- twice)

ah! those are just some random bits i picked to validate my thinking. i'm using the bits as flags, so i don't really care what the numbers work out to.
