Chris Alexander’s full statement announcing that he is stepping aside from the mayoral race. It kind of reads like a poem, which I did not expect.

Politicians doing Jisei no ku followed by ritual harakiri when faced with defeat would be a welcome return to form

You could kinda awkwardly sing this text along to "You'll Be In My Heart" by Phil Collins.

Alexander dropping out will have people asking whether this benefits Bradford. Luckily, @alexo.bsky.social covered this very question in this week’s edition City Hall Watcher. The short version: it probably doesn’t mean that much. toronto.cityhallwatcher.com/p/where-toro...

There's also a poll published today showing Chow leading by significantly more than Alexander's vote share. www.cp24.com/local/toront...

"I am not endorsing anyone." In other words: "No one wants to play with me? Fine! I'm taking my ball and going home!"

Canadian, & therefore treacherous

The next mayor (whoever that is) can appoint him poet laureate.

Not surprised about Alexander stepping aside, but we still need to get out and vote to make sure we #StopBradford. #TOpoli

Sounds like he doesn’t know the root cause of toronto’s problems! But I don’t see anyone brave enough to identify the root cause either.

@rudydotca.bsky.social

does anyone know?

I think so. It is too common in democratic capitalistic nations.

@jimboknows.bsky.social

It's really strange, and not as clear as I'd like. But I sorta don't hate it? It's at least notable!

Shame he was the rock in Bradford's we all needed.
