He cites users' ability to mute & block folks as a positive, which is good. It's also why right wing chuds thankfully can't get a foothold here - b/c they violate community norms & get nuclear blocked out of normal people's timelines. Bluesky isn't a *liberal* bubble - it's a *decency* bubble.

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

I sincerely hope that @toni.bsky.team won't deceive himself into thinking that right wingers from X have the capacity to engage with civility as he envisions. Their lack of presence here is because they've been unable to weaponize Bluesky for harassment. That's a huge plus for the site.

I miss old IRC server scripts where instead of blocking people you turned everything they posted into animal sounds like frog ribbits until they gave up and left.

That’s exactly it. I left twitter because gun rights extremists started attacking me personally. Not just my organization, but me. And mine is only one of a million stories like that. If that happens to me on Bluesky I am out of here too. It is literally a safety issue.

Also - in context, this sounds fine! He’s talking about more sports, not more right wingers, lol. Looks like the Verge baited us here. Sorry for taking the bait! bsky.app/profile/scoi...

Good lord I wish some of you could read on this text based social media website.

It is also partially on Toni to have the media training to recognize when the premise of a question is not winnable. You can answer while redirecting. "We like our current users and think there is room for groups with different interests," versus, "yes, we have a user base problem but..."
