High five to Mark Jacob for telling the NYT to its face what's wrong with its rhetorical coddling of the fascist, lying Trump administration.

🧵🧵🧵 The NY Times posted a 15-minute video today in which I got to tell NYT what’s wrong with its coverage. They said they saw my critical posts on Bluesky and invited me to do a video with them to air my grievances. Weird, right? I didn’t hold back. I blasted their sanewashing of MAGA extremism.

Healy says the NYT wants to avoid "an overuse of those words [like "lying"] time after time as if we're sitting in judgement." But Trump and his lackeys ARE lying, every gat damn day. Saying so isn't judgement - it's reporting the facts. Would you avoid saying it's raining when it rains?

I like how NPR points out when things he says are actually lies. It helps put things in context, because sometimes he says things and you're like "wait, really?!" and NPR's like "no, not really."

Healy also explicitly says if they used more straightforward language, they could endanger "having sources who trust us as sort of a nonpartisan news organization." My guess is that "sources" here literally just means "Trump taking Maggie Haberman's calls." 🤮

The way he also admitted they don't report fairly on all that Trump and the republicans do, because they don't want to appear like their being unfair. If its coverage that doesn't highlight all the problems that the party is bringing, it's unfair coverage. Maybe they shouldn't report on politics.

It's like if 1 team in a game is committing endless fouls, but the ref is running a policy that he can only give another foul if both teams have received 1.

Which sources willing to rat on Trump would be scared off if the NYT called Trump a fascist or a liar? Seriously. The sources for the important stories are the ones who are telling you he's a liar and a fascist! The only source who'd be scared off is Trump himself.
