Generally, the more you read, the better you get as a writer. It's critical! One exception is that if I'm in the middle of writing something very specific and I hear about a project that's superficially similar, I may avoid checking that other thing out until I'm done with mine.

I read, play games, but also do short story type of stuff to try and get my brain used to twisting puzzles. The more you work your brain the easier it is to write. I write essentially everyday... but I also read every single day. I love reading! but I start a book but I don't finish reading them!
