I was going to respond with a measured take about how parenting is a massive amount of work, and if AI can help reduce that load by organizing stuff or whatever, that seems OK! Then I saw the post in question, which is about training an AI model to read to your kid so you don’t have to, and whaaaat

Every time I see one of those posts where a parent has decided to offload anything it can about being a parent to AI it just makes me sad for that kid. why do you have kids if you aren't going to try to form actual relationships with them, to spend time with them, to parent them?

I feel weird because as a software dev, I (we?) am seeing drastic changes that make me more productive and also uneasy about future employment. I've been trying to work on a blog post about this but honestly I'm really tired of hearing about AI and don't want to think about big-picture stuff more!
