My Apple TV is two gens back and I see no benefit to getting the new one. It’s remote is the only Apple item I use that still charges with a lightening cable. Whilr I’d like a USB-C remote, I’m not paying £59 - or nearly half what the ATV originally cost - for a new one.

I’m kind of surprised you were able to muster up that many words for these “updates”. I don’t think I could have. But I do agree the new remote is easily the best part. As soon as I learned it was compatible with the 3rd gen I ordered one.

NVIDIA shield has had audio pass through since 2019. People wanted to buy the new gen4 and now Apple has people trying to find gen3's. Big miss. No one cares about Siri AI in their set top box. Quality video and high end audio and privacy is all they needed.

If this is the path they are going to take, I honestly think they should just kill these products. Only zombie fan boys will purchase at this price , just own up that it’s time to get a new hobby.

With my kids having dropped the current model's remote enough the power button is popping out. I can't quite bring myself to sell it and buy new - but the new improved remote couldn't have come at a better time.

I was waiting to upgrade one of my Apple TV 4Ks with the new one so I could put the old one on another TV since it’s still great…but honestly, now the plan is to just buy another older used one, especially after the new one drops and folks might be selling off their old one.
