FF7 Rebirth Director/FF7 Remake Co-Director Naoki Hamaguchi praises Japan's far-right PM Sanae Takaichi www.resetera.com/threads/13...

Also, Takaichi's immensely popular right now in Japan across the political spectrum, including with people who aren't ultrarightists. People whose only knowledge of JP politics is "Nippon Kaigi exists" are making wild extrapolations

I am still not certain if its really at all meaningful to make any assertions about Japan's politics as being any whichway when it seems like a lot of it is just layers and layers of vibes.

I'll allow that the Hiroki Kikuta one about her being the only one who can carry on Shinzo Abe's will and save Japan is pretty bad but Hamaguchi is literally just like "yeah it's cool we have a woman PM now. I like politicians who do things =)" which is the median voter in 90% of the world lmfao

there's a multi page long debate over whether this makes him a fascist but no one has made the obvious thing response of ok lets say it does. lets go there. would that not also make 85% of this forum fascist

if you wanna argue that the background radiation of culture normalises a fascist worldview in incurious citizens who benefit from neo-imperial structures then ok. but you look very silly if you only do this for other countries. are you still voting democrat even after they backed a genocide?

anyway this is a far more pervasive and complex issue of orientalism in games spaces than genre names. so many discussions could be avoided if we all admitted we just don't actually know much about other countries, this is a gaming forum. it gets 100000x worse whenever china gets involved lol

Most Chinese people don't realize Uyghur concentration camps are a huge deal for Westerners, and most Westerners aren't aware that one of China's biggest celebrities is Uyghur. I get "no you're making that up" to both facts when I explain it to the corresponding groups, it's very startling!

I've seen so many so called "leftists" and liberals use racism against brown people to fight racism because they believe that brown people are the major component of white supremacy. I understand that lots of brown people fall for that shit, but it's still white people who do that, blame them not us

This is especially funny in the context of ResetERA, the forum that banned and drove out a bunch of Palestinians and Palestinian sympathizers simply because of those posters' criticism of the New York Times' abysmal Gaza coverage.

(Googles) Am I crazy for thinking that drawing doesn't particularly resemble Shinzo Abe? Feels very bizarre to draw a portrait in honor of somebody that doesn't actually look like the person you're trying to honor.
