e33's sexism is the one thing that gets the least pushback in discourse because its just impossible to deny. those hysterical women and their grief they must be brought to heel lest they destroy the world and themselves. you keep waiting for it to undercut this but it just doubles down lmao

a key thing in the game people say is about the purity and necessity of human expression is an overzealous feminine artist systematically crushing a racially pure France lol its so wild that game makes me so mad

Can you elaborate on this for me? Given the ones who want to destroy Lumiere are men and the place is depicted as racially diverse? Is there something I missed here?

The final 10 minutes of that game makes me feel insane, if you decide that Maelle's perspective has validity it accuses you of being emotionally weak in the same way she supposedly is. I can get what it's trying go for, but in execution it's just so obnoxiously condescending to me

It doesn't really do any work to establish that position in the last few hours suddenly what she wants is unreasonable and its like what the fuck

Yeah exactly, I dont inherently hate the idea of the game asking you to reflect on your own attachment to the characters but so much of the story is spent misdirecting for the third act rugpull, you barely actually see Maelle's supposed unhealthy dependence, they just tell you that's whats happening

The way the story is executed in the final act is more unkind to itself than it is to the player for having the audacity to give a shit about these characters we spent dozens of hours with.

Maybe I am weird but I didn't view it as that and more like 2 people who have selfish desires (at least Maelle and verso) But also I think they really mishandled alot of aspects about the game

I completed the game, enjoyed it a lot and would recommend it, but I always recommend it with this caveat. The ingrained misogyny in E33 is brutal and particularly apparent in the back third and endings.

probably best that i haven't played it tbh, this is the sort of thing that makes me insufferable. i already ruin every conversation about metal gear solid with "so has kojima ever actually met a woman"

Distressing part is the female characters are really good, it just have a very french prebaked attitude around what men and women are narratively capable of coping with, and what they are allowed to do.

The thing that gets me is sometimes when I bring it up I am informed that actually they aren’t acting that way. I’m just making that assumption because of my misogyny. It’s fine for the thing you like to have problems, you really don’t need to stretch to cover them up.

Lune portrayed as a smart and capable companion also Lune: I read about what you and your dad did Verso I'm going to ask two questions and wait for you to advance the plot half an hour before we can start banging assuming you didn't already bang Sciel
