the choice to have the shadow lord do saturday morning cartoon barks every 3 seconds is driving me crazy. raogrimm is an ice cold motherfucker he is not saying shit like "i will crush your bones"

he isnt talking about the galka at all hes just saying generic jrpg villain shit like "can your vaunted “justice” withstand the brunt of the deepest rancor and wrath" they're doing him so dirty

to be fair he's a facsimile created from an idea of raogrimm by a saturday morning cartoon villain who isn't even from vana'diel to begin with, I don't think it's a stretch to say that maybe it's a little intentional. the obvious artificiality of the vana'diel in the raids is Part Of The Story Point

wait that is such a bunch of confusing lore to explain why the raids are less interesting than they could be if they were normal lmao that’s an odd choice? do they do this kinda thing a lot with the cameos, i assume to not step on the toes of the game they’re borrowing from?

It really depends. Things like Ivalice raids or FFIII are all woven really well into XIV’e pre-existing lore. Even Dawntrail’s FFIX bosses all feel like they make sense in-world. Then you get things like FFXI raids and Nier which are kinda just stapled on. Even though previous XI stuff is done well

One funny thing regarding FF11 specifically is that the FF11 seasonal event they've ran a couple times has Actual Iroha from the Rhapsodies of Vana'diel questline show up and it ends with her getting stuck in 14. So there is a major character from 11 that is just canonically wandering Eorzea.

Unlike the 13, 15 and 16 ones where they end with Lightning, Noctis and Clive going *back* to their world. Iroha? Nope, she's just stuck here never to be followed up on.

That felt so petty basically hoping FFXI players move permanently too. It'd be great if what story the raid has allowed her to go back.

actually yes mostly. mainly in Omega raids (literally all throwback fights to NES/SNES FF outside of O11+12) are all the same thing, just facsimiles created by Omega to test you. The Nier raids aren't tho. those are drakenguard/Nier canon which is baffling but so is Nier lore

the funniest example is the Eden raids where they literally construct the primals out of the WOL's memories and it turns out the WOL has a really fucked up memory. which makes for some comedy shit like Titan turning into a car
