A big part of the reason that I haven't been posting much is that I have been spending a lot of my personal time working to get @abdulelsayed.bsky.social elected in Michigan. I can tell you, the excitement I see from everyday people for his campaign is something I've never seen before.

The work I've been doing with the campaign has been in directing technical projects to help build the campaign throughout the primary. I've also seen the kind of technical talent that a campaign people actually believe in can draw in.

It's true that campaigns need a lot of money to be competitive, but we're solving technical problems through the volunteer network that other campaigns would need significant donations at a level only major funders can provide. This is one reason Dems believe money wins campaigns.

Conventional wisdom would dictate that a candidate can't survive without high-dollar donations because expertise is expensive. That's only true if your message doesn't move the experts to donate something more valuable than money to you - their time.

In #TechiesForAbdul, we have programmers, big data specialists, arcGIS experts, back-end administrators, and a hoard of technical support professionals that aren't here because they're getting paid...they're here because they believe in the possibility of a well run government.

What all of this represents isn't the belief in just one guy. It represents a movement that you won't understand if all you do is watch the evening news. We doing more than getting an excellent candidate elected, we're challenging the idea that money in politics is everything. It's not.
