Trans athletes are in the news again thanks to James Talarico opposing us from playing due to safety concerns. I want to go on record and say that I don't feel any less safe playing with my cis teammates than I do with normal people.

We will never stop paying the price for our racist immigration policy, and we deserve it.

Admittedly a US thing, but I think folks should reflect that Kimi, the open-weight AI model by $20b-valued Moonshot AI everyone is freaking out about, was developed by someone who went to CMU and then didn't stay in the US mostly because visas would prevent him setting up a US business

A big part of the reason that I haven't been posting much is that I have been spending a lot of my personal time working to get @abdulelsayed.bsky.social elected in Michigan. I can tell you, the excitement I see from everyday people for his campaign is something I've never seen before.

In #TechiesForAbdul, we have programmers, big data specialists, arcGIS experts, back-end administrators, and a hoard of technical support professionals that aren't here because they're getting paid...they're here because they believe in the possibility of a well run government.

What all of this represents isn't the belief in just one guy. It represents a movement that you won't understand if all you do is watch the evening news. We doing more than getting an excellent candidate elected, we're challenging the idea that money in politics is everything. It's not.

It's true that campaigns need a lot of money to be competitive, but we're solving technical problems through the volunteer network that other campaigns would need significant donations at a level only major funders can provide. This is one reason Dems believe money wins campaigns.

Conventional wisdom would dictate that a candidate can't survive without high-dollar donations because expertise is expensive. That's only true if your message doesn't move the experts to donate something more valuable than money to you - their time.

The work I've been doing with the campaign has been in directing technical projects to help build the campaign throughout the primary. I've also seen the kind of technical talent that a campaign people actually believe in can draw in.

Being forced to listen to these freaks screech about how trans people are perverts while they get arrested on a weekly basis for sex crimes is a reality I am sincerely so tired of being subjected to.

🧮 80 MPs have now signed the motion to reject the EHRC guidance. This motion alone would not stop it, it would have to be put to a vote. The best way to get that is for it to have an overwhelming number of signatures. Whatever happens, it sends a strong message. edm.parliament.uk/early-day-mo...

It’s pretty easy to do a little research on the place you’re going, make sure you aren’t flashing rude gestures that are normal in your home country, and be kind in your travels. The human experience of wanting to be treated kindly is surprisingly universal.

Faine Greenwood@faineg.com

Someone will doubtless get mad at me for this (ironically) but I suspect that those Americans who claim they’re constantly treated poorly abroad merely for being American are actually just being treated poorly because they have Rancid Vibes

I’m gonna be so for real, if JSOC reproduced its originating failed operation in 2026, we need to be asking about the competence of this command. If it were me, I would hope this is a coverup because the implications of this level of incompetence is dire.

You’re telling me that the Department Of War wants everyone to believe that 2 C-130s couldn’t take off from an Iranian desert because of sand? Literally the thing that directly led to the creation of JSOC in the first place?

I was looking a bit more into that Ben Appel guy --the "In Defense Of Effeminate Men" "writer"-- and, wouldn't you know it, he's even more of a conservative fuck than you'd think he'd admit to. Every trans person deserves to tear him to shreds with responses to what he was doing w that article.

A recent Atlantic column claimed society is allegedly "transing" effeminate boys. For my @xtramagazine.com column this month, I wrote a rebuttal using my own experience as a young, closeted trans girl. xtramagazine.com/power/identi...

Depressing.

It seems all Kansas-issued trans drivers' licenses are invalid, effective tomorrow It is now illegal for trans people to drive a car until they surrender their license at a DMV (that most will need to drive to) and have it reissued with the wrong gender marker This was never about woman's sports

There's an absolutely mind boggling amount of scandals involving US government officials right now, and the only thing plastered across CNN's front page for days has been a TV host's missing mother. I'm sorry, I just do not care about this whatsoever. This is the state of newsmedia in the US.

I'm not heartless, if it were my mom missing I'd want it to be front page news too, but the fact that this story has been locked at the top for this long is a red herring. Please report news that impacts more than one family, I'm begging you.

NYT is wrong. Bezos buying WaPo was never a for-profit venture. Buying news outlets and allowing/forcing them to fail is not an accident, it's a militant strategy by the ultra-wealthy to deny their opposition (all of us) reliable information in an ongoing class war. The price is worth it for them.

Kashmir Hill@kashhill.bsky.social

Very sad to see yet another news outlet eradicate jobs for journalists. Reliable information about the world and what’s happening in it, from local to global scale, is harder to get with fewer and fewer skilled people whose mission is to provide it. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/04/b...

Businesses call this sort of gamble a "loss leader". I will take a loss on this purchase so that I can get this other better, desired outcome as a result. It's pawn sacrifice, not ineptitude.

There are more people now than ever before in my lifetime who are rightly seeing this sort of pattern as a shrewd move in a wider strategy. We can't afford to continue to play checkers while high-society plays chess. In fact, NYT publishing this opinion is another move in the same game.

Take Matt's expert advice, especially if you are an activist or journalist of any kind.

If you’re worried about your devices: a few basic thoughts. 1. Pick good passcodes. I recommend a 10-digit numeric *random* passcode on your phone. This seems hard to remember, but with a couple of days’ practice it will be effortless.

They’re a death squad, Chuck, and you want them to wear name tags. Get the fuck out of here.

Democrats want commonsense reform for ICE: End the roving patrols and racial profiling. Take accountability and abide by the same rules as local police. Masks need to come off, body cameras need to stay on—no secret police in the United States of America.

You might ask me, “ok, so what do Democrats do now to make sure high turnout voters don’t become low turnout voters?” I didn’t decide not to go to bat for Dems next time on a lark. It took years of compounded messaging and blame for me to get here. It’s not an easy, overnight fix.

If Dems did these 5 things, It would convince me that there is meaningful, serious reform happening within the party. Maybe enough to get over how mad I am personally for their leaders who blamed the trans community for their 2025 loss in our most vulnerable moment.

The truth is, this is a short list of things they need to do just to get started. This isn’t a comprehensive reform the party needs before I would even consider them to be electable again. That list is way too long for 250 character posts.

4) Go hard on popular policies. Abortion access is a 70/30 policy. Take a position and be ready to die fighting for it. Dems have allowed an erosion on a firm stance on popular issues like this, and it makes them look like limp dick cowards. Abolishing DHS is becoming one of those issues now too.

5) embrace leftist populism. Stop treating outstanding young candidates like Zorhan like they’re poop sticks. Corpo Dem politics is dead and populist candidates are your future. Act accordingly.

2) purge the republicans from your party. Yes, it takes courage to whip party members, but allowing rotating villains to derail every potential shot at a policy victory has boosted the idea that D is a controlled opposition party. What the fuck are you doing with guys like Tom Suozzi, seriously?

3) Fire your consultants. I know they hold your hair back while you’re vomiting into the toilet on Nov. 5th but they are lying about the solutions for the fundamental problems the party has. They have to go.

So if they want to dig themselves out of this hole, heres a bulleted list: 1) start fighting, goddamit, are you controlled opposition? Because a lot of your smartest voters legitimately think you are. You have a Senate leader too busy funding Israel to give a shit about defunding ICE…wtf.

Immediately after the Democrats lost in 2024, the DNC didn’t listen to their voters…they blamed trans people and leftist organizers, then held a retreat where their paid consultants rubbed their backs and told them to stay the course. This pull quote is a lie Dems tell themselves now to feel better.
