When Marchenko entered the NHL he was a pure goal scorer. In 2022-23 he played 59 games, scored 21 goals with just 4 assists. That's a goal to assist ratio that would impress even Pavel Dorofeyev. But Marchenko's game has grown and this past season he added 40 assists to his 27 goals.

In addition to Marchenko's offensive production, he is a good puck possession player and is above average in the defensive zone. Marchenko is a complete player and is one of the best NHLers that a lot of fans probably don't know that much about.

Marchenko has one year left on his current contract at a $3.85M cap hit and is in line for a massive raise which is why there are rumours he might be available. His comps will be what Alex Tuch earns this off season and guys like Kempe ($10.625Mx8), Konecny ($8.75x8), Ehlers ($8.5Mx6).

$10M AAV on a long term contract would not be outrageous for Marchenko considering the rising cap and he is probably worth it. He's a complete player that I think you can win with. If The Blue Jackets are shopping Marchenko a lot of teams should be interested.
