This is funny because even taken at face value it certainly is NOT an argument for cars, rather making the city public transit only. If all the fietsers in Amsterdam drove cars instead nobody would be going anywhere at all.

I never made an argument for cars. And again you act as though you are the grand poobah of the planet telling people they ONLY need public transportation. Not your call. They say the Nazis had great public transit. Some is good some not so much. How bout you do what works for YOU and let others be.

Abandoned bikes by the tens of thousands are NOT trivial. And as I said there is NO perfect MOT and all ppls needs are different. Ever try to flee a tornado or hurricane on a bike? Of course you haven't.

Being brainwashed, ableist and not caring about others choices for their well being while swearing you know what's best is well beyond any "disingenuousness" you may think you discovered. And you still haven't ducked a cyclone on a bike. As much as I have ridden them, I haven't either ;)

I never said there weren't perhaps too many cars in certain spaces . Some want to cut most urban car routes, that doesn't help the disabled. More bikes isn't really the answer to cars If they work in your space fine, I also never said not to ride - lifelong cyclist

Disabled persn here from a who can't ride a bike: I don't think it's ableist anymore than suggesting using a car is ableist toward blind people. For evacuation from something like a hurricane, why not have a range of modes, including buses?

If I could and I had to get out of an area after an earthquake, I think a (carefully ridden, with light) mountain bike would probably be good. Cars are only useful after the roads are cleared. Nothing I've read about tornadoes suggests that you can plan +ahead+ how to escape them.

Have you ever fled a tornado or a hurricane in a car? 42 years in and I haven’t. But I have seen videos of backups of cars of people trying. Seems like an efficient space-saving travel device would help…
