I lived in the back end of nowhere. We still partied a lot. Youth club that was for mostly for kids to lower teens? Go behind the building? Smoking dope. Abandoned houses? Party houses. Blocks of flats that friends older friends lived in? Drinking and smoking. School excursion? Smuggled booze

I think Gen Z may be filling in the blanks a little much here. Most house parties really are just a small gathering of friends. Malls were already dying when most millenials were in high school, but it has gotten more extreme. Yes, going to the club on workdays or schooldays was super normal.

I would also like to remind them of things that DID NOT EXIST. Facebook was not a thing until college, streaming did not exist in any meaningful way. Internet speeds for many of us were still barely past the dial-up phase. Smart phones weren't a thing growing up. Few/no ads on youtube tho :).

I'm going to say this, no we did not. Some of us never got a chance to really party. Some of us broke our butt studying, thinking that if we actually worked our butts off we would have a shot at a future and we saw how that turned out

Yeah, I was going to say I'm annoyed at people basically saying "Haha yeah we totally did" because so many of us were in the same position as OP but maybe I'm just jealous lol

this person must not leave the house because you can totally get fucked up at the club on a weekday and go to work the next day it just won’t be very crowded

Small ‘city’ dweller, but we definitely had more clubs, bars and live music when I was in my 20s compared to now. It’s like 2 dive bars and a mix of mediocre brewery bars and 1 sticky floor club. Nothing actually fun to do for Gen Z for the most part.

We were indeed partying all the time. Even as working adults. Still did well at my job and got promotions on a few hours of sleep for years. Very fun times.
