It’s a frightening reminder we cannot rely on many elected officials to stick up for the non-elites, for the working class, they will not stand up for the poor. We need to primary them if they lack the ability, stomach, and drive to fight for the people they represent.

Eight centrist Democratic senators just voted to reopen the government in exchange for a promise of a Senate vote on ACA subsidies. That’s not a deal—it’s surrender. They’ve given up real leverage for a handshake agreement that might never happen./🧵

Is the shutdown over? Not yet. Tonight’s vote was only step 1 of 5. There’s still another 60-vote hurdle, amendments, AND then the House. Pressure matters right now—especially on Kaine, Rosen, Hassan, Shaheen. Stay loud. youtu.be/mdFRfeGRKfI

Someone explain to me why didn't they ask for an immediate vote on the ACA subsidies (not a month from now after folks will have passed the open enrollment decision point to go uninsured) if they were just going to cave for the exact same thing they could have had 40 days ago

Primary all of the traitors! It's not a question of center vs. left, it's a matter of fighting for something. These Dems gave up because they really do not believe in anything worth fighting for.
