Bsky highlights the contradiction at the heart of React's bezzle: in order to support RN (supporting app store gatekeepers), it creates a model that makes the (open, interoperable, free) web site shite to use...pushing people to apps. This is not pro-open-web.

bsky.app/profile/jpsc... Yep, it's kinda sad. I hope they can improve when they have the capacity

Fonts are blocking the render and they take 3x 500kb, also the main 2 js bundle are ~2mb and takes ~4.8sec just for the server response (empty cache)

And its scrolling sucks on Safari as well, despite the bug fix attempts! Then there’s the thing where the more you scroll down, the more everything begins to lag in it. Then there are the image upload bugs. Such a bad web app. Thanks for the Skeetdeck rec. Will try it out.

On my Android phone (Pixel 3a), Elk-in-Chrome is faster than the Bluesky React Native app. The Bluesky app mostly works, but there are semi-regular stutters (dunno if from main thread CPU usage or GC or both).

The X web app (built with react-native-web I think?) was slow too on my phone. Elk (web app running in Chrome) does better than both the X web app and the Bluesky native one (which uses React Native). I haven't tried the Mastodon web app on Android (and barely used it on desktop).
