Research and development are the way forward for EV's and reduction of carbon emissions. Under trump, the USA will fall behind in all the best technologies, as he sells us all out to Big Oli.
I read something revolutionary about EV batteries every month.
This new tech will:
Will go for 1000km
Charge in 5 minutes
Cost peanuts to make
We still are where we are, slow gains is all I expect.
They want to get away from graphite. The new anode is silicon-carbon.
And they *claim* to have solved the problems.
This article is written to get funding. Not to deliver on battery tech.
EVs are not revolutionary, they're a distraction from taking meaningful climate action, they're greenwashed cars, so that morons can feel good about continuing to contribute to the extinction of humanity.
I won’t buy an EV until they get away from the lithium-ion battery technology. Lithium-ion is OK for relatively small batteries, but not for large batteries. While it doesn’t happen often, when they do go on fire extinguishing them is very difficult. And Teslas seem to be the worst of the lot.
About 40,000 people die in motor vehicles every year with 600 annual deaths due to fire. That won’t make you give up driving but 153 cumulative deaths since inception will make you give up EVs?
If you burn alive in a relatively minor incident because the doors won't open? Yes, that will make me give up Tesla. You're welcome to make another choice.
1) The percentage of EV’s worldwide is still much, much, lower than ICE cars.
2) When an EV goes on fire, the chances of the occupants dying in it are much higher than with an ICE vehicle.
You are welcome to drive a lithium-ion battery EV, I’ll give it a miss, thank-you-very-much.
We've known that the anode is the weak link in battery energy for a while now. Proving that silicon can reliably address that while maintaining a long life span (cycle life) and being easy to mass produce is a different story.
