Is it also 'difficult to believe' this is allowed for a street legal passenger vehicle that doesn't require any extra training or licensing? This seems dangerous AF. Why do we allow race cars (heavy ones at that) to operate on our public roads? Shouldn't they be restricted to race tracks?

Because it also does this: "Car and Driver saw the Cayenne match the Corvette ZR1's braking distance." 75-0 in 147 feet. Roughly, this is a 60-0 in 95 feet. This is crazy good. I'd rather walk in front of this Porsche than any Honda

While the driver is staring at the phone and/or distracting flat screen? Nah. Your logic doesn't hold up. High speeds = high crash consequence and a much higher likelihood of severe injury or death. Especially for those walking, biking, and crossing the street.

>While the driver is staring at the phone and/or distracting flat screen? Same risk is present for almost any new car I understand the intuition that unusual ability for acceleration leads to more accidents, but I'd want to see data showing this to be true before just swallowing it

EV's are the new muscle car - meaningless acceleration figures accompanied by a complete inability to go around a corner or stop properly (yes, even the vaunted Porsches).
