Each level also has 3 optional gems to collect. The blue gem is similar to strawberries in Celeste. The red gem is available after beating the level and getting the blue gem, and often changes the level in some way to make it harder. The gold gem is for beating a time trial goal.

Hey, I think I mentioned this to Shoujo at game garden, but for time trial things or where you're trying to beat your own best time, an option I've seen in another speed platformer that I think you might want to consider is the ability to automatically die when you reach the time limit

Basically if you're trying to beat your own record any attempts that haven't finished by your existing pb get cut short Not saying this is necessarily a good fit! But when grinding times in Clown Meat it cut down on "DAMMIT I JUST MISSED THE TIME" frustration because it auto reset slow runs
