The new British Airways app has finally landed on my phone after what feels like two years of "coming soon". First impressions: it's genuinely good. But there's one change that's going to annoy points people. A thread 🧵

Credit where it's due - as travel-day software this is a massive step up on the old app. Live boarding passes, gate countdowns, push updates in the 24 hours before you fly. BA say it's "built to evolve" too, so more to come.

The on-the-day stuff is the bit most people actually need, and it's now done properly. Gate status, seat, boarding group all front and centre. This is the app the old one should always have been.

You can still book with Avios - nothing's stopping you. It just all happens in a browser now rather than natively in the app. For those of us who treat reward-seat hunting as half the fun, it's a small but real loss.
