Maybe just putting in a regular tap would have saved state-owned South Western Railway from having to sponsor the water dispenser in its own station. Just a thought.

Apparently it's eco-friendly to put in one of these massive machines with payment processing and screens, for the purpose of dispensing water.

There's one in Euston too. After a while stuck queuing behind people trying to work out how to work the water machine and getting increasingly twitchy about missing the train we gave up and bought a bottle from one of the food shops. Which is probably the aim.

Last time I passed through Gatwick N there was only one of at least 4 drinking water dispensers working, and there were about 30 people queuing to use it.
