One thing I want to make clear! If you set your username to a domain, you can change it later without any loss to your account. Let me step through some scenarios:

Has there been any thought to reserving *.bsky.social usernames when you change it to a domain? For certain notable figures (like @aoc.bsky.social), it seems like changing to a domain is risky because someone can easily claim your old (and recognizable) username

I could be wrong about this… but it’s possible that AOC may have had to contact Bluesky to get her handle manually changed because of this code: github.com/bluesky-soci... Checking clearsky.app/aoc.bsky.soc... reveals that her handle at the account’s creation was actually @aoctest.bsky.social.

Yeah, this was just one example though. Replace AOC with another prominent figure who isn't on this list and you see the issue. Once you have a handle & a following, it's hard to argue in favor of changing to a domain More generally, it would also be nice if you could have domain & bsky url as well
