It’s been incredible man! Rails 8 + Inertia + React + Shadcn has been such a perfect stack imo. Inertia really is just the glue between the best of both worlds, doesn’t get in the way at all.

Helps keep the front end and backend separate and really excel in the areas that both techs shine in. Can really leverage AI and the latest front end tech since it’s just React components, while you can also leverage the mature Rails backend. Feels super idiomatic in the Rails ecosystem as well

I had a passing curiosity about this having done a lot of Vue that only coincidentally was deployed within my Rails apps as they worked entirely via an API. (And the cost in the past was webpacker which Rails 7 helped reduce a bit) Now looking at Hotwire instead. Not sure how this compares...

... It wasn't super difficult to use Vue Router on the JS side and a wildcard catchall on the Rails side. The API based approach seemed like a feature, and if I am not going to have one, then perhaps Hotwire feels more natural? So I am curious about Inertia but not seeing right away the upside.

We're starting to explore it - all of the rails + react libraries we've tried to date have their tradeoffs. I'm hoping Inertia is the one... will report back once I've had some real time with it.
