I guess I'll introduce myself to Bluesky. I'm Jared, but you can call me Jardo. Computers bend to my will. I'm based in Victoria, BC, and help organizations build eCommerce systems that make Shopify stores jealous using Ruby on Rails and Solidus.

When I'm not writing Ruby code or helping businesses unfuck their technical strategy, you'll find me driving out to remote surf breaks along the Pacific coast while listening to face-melting death metal.

Fun fact: I go by Jardo online because my bank decided that was my name and put it on my cheques. I kept it because it sounds like a minor Star Wars character who dies heroically in the background of episode IV.

Want more of my peculiar blend of tech insight, love for Ruby, and questionable humour? I just launched Skill Issue, a newsletter where I put all the fun programming stuff that doesn't make it into blog posts or my podcast. Signup in the footer of my site: jardo.dev

Oh yeah, the podcast. On Dead Code, I explore the ideas that our short-sighted industry is failing to capture and how we can do a better job of learning from the past. Think of it like a tech podcast, but good. deadcode.website
