all of this project is loosely inspired by the incredible ramendb.supleks.jp This website is absolutely top tier for its accuracy and fairness in reviewing ramen in Japan.

project setup done... now for the slog of downloading dependencies on amtrak wifi :(

okay through project setup, again in the vein of going overboard for this project, i'm setting up workOS because i've already gotten a few ramen friends to agree to contribute to this silly thing and I want to give them a better experience than writing markdown

boilerplate time... more dependencies...

okay log in works on the workos side, but the redirect link is wrong.. something about the client config is incorrect

okay fixed that, now it seems like the cookie isn't being read by the workos FE client

okay all fixed, easy pz, auth done

took a little break, back to it. now onto db modelling (again going over the top here!) Going to try using prisma which seems like an interesting ORM. Excited to learn it

we passed by the source of charcuterie on the way here.

now on to CRUD and boilerplate for all my models, so much copypasta

okay CRUD and boilerplate done, now to actually use the user auth / access token to gate this correctly. idk why all the auth providers Stytch, WorkOS, etc. never provide how to actually do this it always feels hacky as hell

stuck at washington and theyre doing some engine replacement (sounds freaky but is relatively normal to do a changeover like this for a long haul iirc). Wifi is meh

had dinner, and now we're back. getting all the auth right and zod and whatnot as all my frontend friends tend to yell that zod is the only way

okay crud is done, gonna start on the actual UI now. I promised a friend i was going to use open street maps, so that's where I'm gonna start

okay im using leaflet and i need to force ssr false unfortunately, but that's alright. shoddy wifi is preventing me from seeing the map though

im setting a width/height boundary but it's looking very very wrong. I think we're gonna go watch a movie so this is a tomorrow problem.
