Pretty wild to see Alito describe reliance on Obergefell as "much more concrete" than reliance on Roe v. Wade, because Roe was merely about "women's ideas about the kind of society that they were going to live in." If it's a Ladies Issue, he just doesn't give a shit. www.cbsnews.com/news/samuel-...

How does he think it's about "what kind of society they were going to live in" rather than "what kind of family they were going to have" and what kind of life they -- the particular individual -- were going to lead??? 1/

It's seeing the legality or illegality of abortion only as grand statement about "the value of life" and not as something that shapes --in the most fundamental ways -- the real lives of actual people.

WOW...that is some ridiculous horseshit. If women hadn't relied on Roe to make specific, concrete life decisions, then why the hell did we need an entire social/political/propaganda/legal/institutional movement to overturn it?

The most charitable read I can come up w is that most ppl assume marriages will be permanent, whereas pregnancies are always temporary. It had a certain sense to it, but it's still unhinged, as if pregnancy can't kill, & can't have lifelong implications for those who survive.

It’s disgusting. But the reporters are either too cowed or clueless to ask the next obvious question: does he think a woman forced to bleed out in a parking lot bcz they won’t remove her ectopic pregancy thinks her feelings abt body autonomy are “abstract”?

I wish we had people who just didn’t let criminals walk away because they believed the Trump era was over. I wish we had a candidate who wasn’t afraid to call bullshit on a election instead of letting it be stolen out from under them.

my never ending white hot fury - for McConnell, Trump and the accursed "conservative" members of the current SCOTUS

Alito is an intellectual lightweight and a zealot. And worst of all he has no curiosity about what he has wrought just wants to complain about his own gripes.
