I got laid off over a year ago and it has still impacts me to this day. The role I was in was the high point of my career. I feel for the people who are getting laid off. It's a really shitty experience. It has nothing to do with you and everything to do with unabated capitalism in tech.

Even today when all anyone wants to do in tech is AI bullshit, big tech is a mess. I've found joy in getting back to tech that made me want to make a career out of it. Get back into hack projects. I'm currently learning more about Meshtastic mesh networks. Raspberry Pi's still exist too! 😁

I have a button with a Bernie Sanders quote on it that is my new mantra for when things are hard: "Despair is not an option." In these times of layoffs, fascist takeovers, and boatloads of uncertainty, find things that bring you joy and reconnect with your roots and despair won't be an option.
