I was in my 50s!

A relative had a very premature sick baby in intensive care. She was distressed that other parents in the unit with a *healthy* baby born the same day as hers were being pressed to choose “the sex” with early surgery a given - no suggestion could await consent from the child. This was 41 years ago.

I would imagine if we routinely karyotyped at birth people we would see many more of us and late awareness would dramatically reduce.
