Heads up streamers against Generative AI... Fading Echo's Senior Producer has an interview stating their studio uses generative AI and calls it "inevitable" and that it can be used "ethically and correctly". 🤨 I was offered a code, but declined. #FadingEcho #twitch #antiai

@duckaislop.bsky.social Sorry, someone's found a statement by the devs strongly disputing this, so it's unclear how representative the senior producer's comments are of the rest of the studio. I have no idea either way, so I'm sorry if I've led to misleading info spreading! bsky.app/profile/glot...

Looking into this. The devs have given pretty strong statements that the game does not include gen AI. That is a real shitty quote, especially from a producer, but weirdly the rest of the interview talks about the ways Gen AI is not suitable for producing a good game, and how it hurts the industry

You can see some of my convo with the devs here: bsky.app/profile/jetp... They like specifying “creative elements” but carefully obscure how they do use it. They should put out a public statement if they don’t use Gen AI or LLMs at all. To me, a little bit of poop in the cake is too much poop. 😳

Apparently this post struck a nerve... Just a reminder that Fading Echo Senior Producer Elise Marchouba said, "At my company, the motto for a while now has been ‘People won't be replaced by AI. People will be replaced by people using AI’." Yikes. 😳 #antiai #fadingecho #indiegames #gamedev

Yeah, and it's concerning if it's "a phrase said often internally", and also if they don't consider programming to be "creative". As a side thing, the producer mentioned spreadsheets, and doing accounting with A.I. might not impact the game itself, but governments might want to check their taxes.

Figured I'd bring this up since they do not disclose their generative AI usage on their Steam page. 😤
