I adore their outsized raspy call.

These little birds are amazing. I can remember when I lived in Alaska and it would be -30 outside and they would be there eating the seeds we spread on a large feeding table so that they didn’t have to take turns at a feeder.

I see it too. That bird is proposing to its mate.

I see the scepter of the cutest birds alive! I miss the little cuties in southern New Mexico. We have verdins, but they're elusive and shy.

Chickadees are my favorite bird. They're here in N Vermont all year, indomitable, tough as hell and always cheerful. They'll be flying around chattering in the hemlocks when it's 15 below. This time of year i spend 100's of hours sitting in a treestand with a dozen chickadees fluttering around
