i especially love all the dopes saying “when the internet first went mainstream everyone hated it too” like it happened in the pioneer days so no one can dispute it, like mf’ers we were THERE

Yes, but I would argue that that is mostly true because the internet was poisoned from the top down by engagement algorithms

Everything that makes life great eventually gets discovered by capitalists, who then rape it, suck the life out of it, and then turn it into a shopping mall to squeeze just a few more bucks outta humanity.

Early facebook was actu amazing. Huge numbers of people could share with others beyond their neighbourhood or direct contacts for the first time. It turned when facebook started to go biz (even then it could've stayed workable but that needed diff management and political/economic climate). Sigh.

Patronising gits! I was using Sperrylink in 1984 and writing shell code on Unix because then software didn't exist for what I needed. Windows wasn't a thing and I didn't even have a mouse yet! The iPhone (and its non-phone predecessor the iPod) was grabbed by young people first; the grownups were on

Blackberries, Palm OS and IBM's Simon, because although without a touch screen they had full office comms functionality far ahead of anything Apple offered at first.
