also, can't stress enough that shit like wolverine having not an iota of respect for its audience has absolutely fuck all to do with "fidelity", stop throwing artists under the bus just because their type of art happens to coincidentally please you the least. blame the person who fucks up

People were talking about yellow paint in games again, and I got thoughts on that and the sorts of things you should do instead, so here's a blog post on that. Imo read my blog post and buy influx redux www.joewintergreen.com/what-i-recko...

i know we all feel a bit smarter when we shift blame from what would be the obvious recipient onto some other fuckin thing because it's "more complicated than that" but sometimes it's not that deep. the bad decision is a bad decision for the obvious reasons. the available alternatives were better

as much as it is the attribute of a healthy, happy game developer to hate the audience, at no point has any gamer ever clamoured for this sort of thing and the buck stops with the developer. this only has anything to do with the audience in that that's who is being insulted by it

This feels like it’s the result of a developer too concerned with executives at Sony pulling funding unless they meet every single QA complaint the Sony execs are made aware of

It’s as if someone involved with the money fundamentally does not understand that engaging storytelling/gameplay demands friction, and thought any friction at all is the worst thing in any moment of the game
