i just want to express my concern that two people i met last week (in their 20s/30s) -- ENGLISH PEOPLE, FROM ENGLAND LIVING IN ENGLAND -- had never heard of Keeping Up Appearances.

The show’s run ended before they were born. And while I grew up knowing shows that ended before I was born, we also only had 4 TV channels back then. The youths just have a lot more current content to view…

Oh for sure—I just assumed it was something like everybody knew even if only by name. Maybe it’s more popular among international (gay?) audiences lol

Oh god, I was just trying to explain to a 20-something journalist that Harvey Nichols used to be an iconic department store that was mentioned in TV shows like Absolutely Fabulous, and she said “what’s that?” How do you explain Ab Fab to a Gen-Z person? Yes, I’m old 😭
