🇮🇳 NEW: A preliminary investigation into last month’s Air India crash found that fuel to both engines was cut off moments after takeoff. • According to the AAIB, both engine fuel switches were moved from "RUN" to "CUTOFF" within a second of each other, leading to a rapid loss of thrust.

🇮🇳 FACT Check: The AAIB’s preliminary report does not mention anywhere that the pilots cut off fuel to the engines, nor does it state that there was no fault in the aircraft. Source: aaib.gov.in/What's%20New... >LEAKLIV:/

I would be very much interested in finding out more on the background of that Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB), NM-18-33 from 2018. Did one airline find a faulty module and reported it to the FAA so they issued that SAIB? Has anyone else ever found a faulty module?

Heinrich Großbongardt: The report shows: Everything indicates that it was a suicide. That one of the two pilots of this machine deliberately interrupted the fuel supply - and this exactly at the moment when the plane was most vulnerable, immediately after takeoff.

The only addition I would have preferred is at least a short extract from the CVR transcript regarding the cutoff switches. Way too many people are jumping to conclusions that it's deliberate pilot action.

How would the cutoff switches move without human action? Even the sequence of the switches moving sequentially is consistent with a person doing it as one cannot move them both at once with one hand.
