Alright #InternetNZ peeps. I am reversing course on Motion 8 (@kiwibrew.bsky.social's NomCom proposal) and recommending a vote for it. I'll be following @kumararepublic.bsky.social's recommended voting: Yes✅: 1, 6, 7, 8 No❌: 2, 3, 4, 5, 9 bsky.app/profile/kuma...

Basically I've been talking to folks who are smarter than I am about Motion 8 (establishing a nominations committee - "NomCom") and I actually found some time to go and read/comprehend the proposal in more depth. A 9th motion has also landed which is wildly onerous. No. No thanks. #InternetNZ

Kia Ora Jason, New follow here. Is there a layman’s breakdown of what the FSU goal to control internetNZ is? Some of my Bluesky favs are all over this, well informed and voting but you’re the first I’ve seen to give a voting outline with explanations. Keen to get involved but need more info.

They tell their constituents that Internet NZ will censor them by seizing their .nz domain names. But they already have one board member (Ayling) who knows that’s disingenuous. Seems more likely they’re interested in the significant funds INZ allocates in grants and diverting that to their causes.
