Not trying to pick a fight but what could you possibly mean by “block this rotten deal”?!? There’s this insane rhetorical theme where people will rightly state the horrors ahead of us, and then cap it with a call to action that we all know is impossible. Who are you calling on to block it??

One family is about to control CBS, CNN, HBO, and TikTok. They’ll buy Warner Brothers with $24 billion from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi. To win over Trump, they canceled Colbert, blocked a 60 Minutes CECOT investigation, and blocked Talarico. Much more will follow. Block this rotten deal.

I love how they mentioned every fascist move they made and followed it up with Do Something. Like buddy, who exactly are you talking to, there’s no opposition party in this country.

John Oliver does this ALL the time on his show, and I feel like it's a sort of "liberal tick" to try and keep the audience from getting dejected and tuning out entirely. I sympathize with the intention but in this moment it really does feel counterproductive.

The FTC? Really? REALLY? Like what are you even talking about, why even pretend like we have a functional government regulatory system? Genuinely it feels like this holds us back from figuring out what we CAN do, instead of prescribing a solution from 2005… I dunno, this kind of thing PMO.

Same vein as when Schumer/Jeffries talks about reaching across the aisle - I would MUCH rather you say “… and we are fucked!” instead of “Write to your Senator!” Talking like Obama is still in office is insane to me and just another way to say “I have no ideas, but want to sound effective & useful”
