HIPAA's got a security rule update pending. Biden's HHS put out the NPRM at the end of 2024 and it's on the agenda for May of 2026 for finalization. We'll see what happens - but the security modernization of the regulation is long overdue. The industry's been fighting it due to increased costs.

Reflexively. Every regulatory expansion, or cost increase more broadly, is opposed irrespective of any resulting systemic or individual benefit.
