I'm still not convinced of a payoff in tech. Any initial velocity from normalizing codebases & clearing tech debt inevitably hits a wall of inattention, forcing more validation/sign offs, such that any time gained is lost to that process, lest get slop through, then requiring costly emergency fixes.

also, whatever payoff people think they are getting is coming from outright theft & destruction of the commons! there is an equally huge cost there, the tech industry is just already used to not having to pay for it and expected that would continue forever
