I watch a Tree Service company YT Channel (Guilty of Treason). It's clear that, as someone else says in another reply, times are hard for service companies.

I have a quiet worry that, as far as Tree Service work goes, people will call them in later for unsafe trees. That not only costs the customer more but generally puts the people doing the work at more risk (which is one reason it costs more).

We are getting tree work done asap this week as one of our trees has decided to become an imminent threat to a neighbor's house. We had to do uncomfortable math on insurance premiums versus a one-time outlay for tree work.

Good for you for doing it. My parents had an old and huge tree fall, luckily in our yard, on a completely still day. I think it still took out a power line. The hole left by the trunk, or maybe it was two trees close together so two trunks, was enormous & a hazard in itself. Best to do it now.
