"If Footmen Tire You, What Will Horses Do?" was a 1971 Christian propaganda movie. Because it was filmed in an actual small town with non-actors it's a neat slice into what 70's rural life looked like. Pretty much everyone dressed like it was still WWII.

This is what Love Lies Bleeding got right about the 80s: everything in the 80s wasn’t neon and bright colors and crazy prints. Everything was fucking Brown

Seeing a lot of people clowning on this guy for thinking documentaries tell the full truth but like, most do? Or at least intend to? Most docs like true crime TV shows aren't meta-narrative mindfucks that's actually about the creators

“'You Can See Everything' is a hilarious, thrilling, fascinating, beautiful piece of art. What it certainly is not is a documentary, and it’s dangerous to pretend that it is,” writes Theranos whistleblower Tyler Shultz. https://bit.ly/4Bk2nDJ

Hey that's weird, her personal AI assistant has the same name as the AI company she owns? Maybe that would be worth pointing out in the quoted text???? It's great how modern American journalism is packed with people who'd drown if left outside while raining because they looked up, like a turkey.

"Cmon babe you know this one!" "I'm sorry I don't" "Gah! Ethan Klein! It was Ethan Klein! From the h3h3 Youtube channel! It has over 3 billion views! Remember I made you watch one of those videos in the car after I told you you'd never be a great writer because you didn't have a curious mind!"

"What do you mean I don't contribute to this relationship? Remember when I got you a cup of water at Taco Bell?" ($150 million for new refinery capacity is chump change to what refinery revenue is. Back of envelope, US refines $1 billion worth of oil each day)

On Defense Production Act: “And tonight, in more breaking news, my administration is using the Defense Production Act to release 150 million dollars to increase American refining capacity to produce more diesel and gasoline.” POTUS still speaking. Daniel Baldwin Thu. Oct. 22, 8:19 PM (4/4)

Oh so this is that weird scam company that's been promising to bring back Wooly Mammoths for like twenty years with nothing to show for it. Surprised they didn't announce they put mammoth DNA on a block-chain.

BREAKING NYT: The Trump Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into Corey Lewandowski over accusations that he personally profited from his role as a top adviser to the Department of Homeland Security, according to two officials with knowledge of the situation.

Jamelle Bouie had a take a few days ago that "Talledaga Nights" with Will Ferrell is closest to what Dubya term I felt like culturally and having lived through it, yeah basically.

The Iraq war is another one of those things, where support at launch was fairly solid (60-70% support) but evidently most people's retrospective puts opposition at 60%. We were always against what it turns out the vindicated objectors and cool kids knew at the time.

*Nathan Fielder voice "In order to solve this mystery, I had to become him"

NBC News@nbcnews.com

A Florida man was found dead in his home during a welfare check in July 2022. Weeks later, one of the officers who discovered his body moved into the home and spent years impersonating him, according to investigators.

For anyone else curious to learn more, in "The Curse" there's a couple sex scenes with Fielder and Emma Stone. He's explicitly playing a scripted character but it's one he wrote so it has some of his Fielder-isms.

NATHAN: And you actually meant that? WOMAN: Meant what? NATHAN: What you said. About it. WOMAN: I don’t understand. NATHAN: “So big” was how you put it. Like, is that just something you say? To men. Or were you being honest, is what I’m asking. WOMAN: You just got an Uber notification. NATHAN: Ok.

"Cmon, obviously she's lying about the abuse. Just look at me, do I look like the kind of person who'd marry a pedophile in exchange for a free tent to sleep in???"

I follow a local artist who sells horror-themed prints, stickers, and such. Yesterday they posted a reel where the text was "Yeah so my Dad is in the hospital. He's stable but it's going to be a long road to recovery" but the photo was a feet pic in her bed? Girl, what??????

A weird trend on social media is the deliberately obtuse zero-information post. Like, who did that? I genuinely don't know and won't learn from reading this? How hard is to say "Don't forget [name] did this thing"?

When certain people ultimately point fingers at Elections Alberta for the delay and missteps tonight, don't forget who underfunded and hampered EA's requests for help to make sure this would run more smoothly.

Oh this is a district that backed Harris 68-29 in the 2024 election. My bad. It's like that time the Democrat TN candidate for Governor was on top of the ballot because his name was Brown and his entire campaign was three typo-ridden letters to newspapers complaining about hunting regulations

Ran across an IG ad for a softcore (?) microdrama starring Riley Reid. "That's odd" I thought, "Isn't Mrs. Reid famously retired? Maybe she's like a Cryptkeeper who just narrates the stories?" After a bit of searching and detailed tattoo analysis I believe this was AI generated. Love the future!
