This substack is proof that Newsome can't be trusted to be the president we would need him to be if he decided to run. I have been clear that Governor Pritzker would be the better choice and I remain committed to that claim. Both talk BIG but I can only trust J.B. to back his words.

The tax rate in and before 1950, immediately after the war recovery and also before the Great depression, was higher than 50% at the top. You don't know economics, or history, or self-preservation. If they leave, fine, they produce nothing. We will make Oreos without their claim to the profits.

100% death tax for everyone that gets redistribued on tax returns evenly so you dont have generational hoarding of massive ammounts of money building up further and further only what you could build up yourself. Also travel ban all billionaires for obvious reasons

Right? First off, they think they'll just take their money and flee? Just saying, what if they are refused the right to do that? Secondly, they'll go to China, and China will welcome them off the plane with rifles and they'll be stuck there heavily regulated anyway. Anywhere they go leads to that.

It's cute that truck people think they produce anything with their own hands. Many hands make light work, & those hands are ours. Taking them back, leaves the fat cats with no source of income, they don't make oreos, they just have a piece of paper saying they get paid while someone else makes them.

We might be forgetting it now, but there is still that wealth tax trouble in California. It's wealthier than some countries, and yet the Democrats are still refusing to properly tax the rich. You can really see the split in the party there. But taxing the rich is essential, as Robert Reich says.

Agreed. The billionaire class has grossly abused whatever benefit of the doubt regarding their motives that they were previously granted. Time for them to be taxed into nonexistence.

Newsome comes from the upper class; he began his career representing Pacific Heights in San Francisco. His was an elitist voice in the Board of Supes for quite a while, so I don't trust him. Granted he's gone after Trump but I suspect opportunism is his primary motive.

I'll vote for it, but it's a little high for a state-level tax in that it will encourage emigration, something that's a lot harder to do on the national level. Yes this one-time tax is hard to evade, but CA income taxes afterwards will take a hit.

I had entertained the idea of voting for Newsom if he did run for president. But not if he doesn’t do that wealth tax. To heck with him.
