Only ~36% of Lake Mendota & 27% of Lake Monona shoreline is public (operated as parks/beaches or owned by public institutions). Lake Wingra, however, stands out with a remarkable 97% public waterfront, thanks largely to the surrounding parks and the incredible work of the @uwarboretum.bsky.social.
