So for those new to @railway.com: deploy basically anything in just a couple of seconds. Think a personal atproto PDS with persistent storage, a @tangled.org knot, or even a vibe coded (or meticulously hand written) site with postgres and a bucket. But really anything fits into a Docker container!

+1 it's very good! Not just saying that cause I work there as well, have been using @railway.com for fun since 2021 and for serious work since 2023. my elevator pitch is that It's progressive disclosure for infrastructure

thanks! I had a quick look at the docs and came away unsure what exactly it’s missing compared to “fully managed”. Would be great to have something to start a new project with: no scaling or high availability required, but automatic updates and backups (restore can be manual) would be good.

Got nerd sniped a while back by y’alls build system when I learned I could just take the tar from a tangled repo download and upload it to the builds endpoint and it took care of the rest! Been using the cli on tangled spindles to just send my releases lately on push and it has been so nice.

Turns out you can also just do stuff with railway's api too??? I probably won't take it much further right now. But a little axum web app that logs you into railway the same way the CLI does, grabs the tangled tar export and uploads it to their endpoint. Which turns out that's all railway up does
