Today we got our living room Steam Machine! I was going to use Firefox on it, but unfortunately I was unable to sign in to my Google account because Firefox still doesn't support cross-device authentication for passkeys on Linux. Had to download Chrome :( bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi...

This is the single biggest reason why I am unable to use Firefox everywhere. With Chrome I can bootstrap my password manager on a new device by scanning a QR code for a passkey. On Firefox I have to manually type a random 32 char string from my phone. That adds so much friction that I just don't.

That is the #1 reason why I do not use Chrome as my main driver: I do not want to fall into this lock-in. I do not want to give one browser (or even one Google account) that much power over all my passwords/logins. If that means I cannot use certain gadgets or tools (easily), so be it.
