Disclosure: On the issue of politics I think you mean well but your stated position is too wild. On transphobia yes it is a thing but psychological positioning and marketing do matter: perception is reality. If there's any funny business then heads should roll. imo you need a lawyer.

There doesn't seem to be a functional review / appeals process. My local group had a trans person suspended for transphobia and it seemed impossible to resolve

it really has come down to the bystander effect. Every single person who can help standing around watching the party beat the shit out of me, all of them saying to themselves, "I don't need to step in. Someone else will help her" and then nobody does
